Young Adult Bible Study

Young Adult Bible Study

We will meet each Sunday night from 5:00 – 6:00 p.m. in the Bullard Building for a time of growing together and growing in our awareness of God’s presence in our lives. For those needing child care, a nursery will be provided for young children; older children are invited to participate in our wonderful children’s choirs which meet at the same time. After the Bible study you’re invited to stay for dinner and a time of fellowship. Whether you are a member or visitor or friend, all are welcome as we gather together to grow together.

Comfort and Joy Quilters
Comfort and Joy Quilters

This group meets in the Bullard Building most Tuesdays from 9:30 until noon. Quilts are pieced, lined and quilted in the comfortable studio. The group’s main focus is making quilts for individuals served by helping organizations such as Presbyterian Children’s Home, various Veterans support groups, and others who would benefit from a gift of warmth and comfort. This congenial group even serves coffee and sweet treats after a morning of busy, caring quilting.

Knit and Crochet With Our  “Prayer Shawl Ministry”

Meets on the last Tuesday of each month in the Bullard Building.  Bring your own knitting or crochet project or join in making a “Prayer Shawl”.  The group provides a “Prayer Shawl”  to persons undergoing challenges of health, or other personal problems.  Each shawl is like a a warm hug, reminding the wearer that the church family prays for them and that God answers prayer. If you are an inexperienced knitter or crochet expert, the veterans of the group are happy to coach you on your project.

Open Studio

Here at SHPC we are blessed with a large craft studio and an abundance of supplies for creative activities. There is no class with regular instruction, but encouragement, supplies and great creative spirit are always available to share. Bring what you’re working on and enjoy the company of other creative ‘makers’.

Our curriculum takes preteens on a guided exploration of virtues necessary for healthy character development as they progress into adolescence. Participants have an opportunity to earn badges for each virtue they encounter in the program.

The Prism Families support group meets once a month at the same time as Prism Preteens. Prism Families provides a judgment-free space where parents and other family members of LGBTQ youth can find peer support, friendship, and a better understanding of what their LGBTQ loved one is going through. Gatherings are led by trained facilitators.
