We were all impressed with the summer presentation on glass art by Matthew Patterson and the wonderful display of his art in the SHPC Library. Now, Matthew, Assistant Professor of The Visual Arts Department of The University of South Alabama, has invited us to a glass blowing demonstration at the Glass Arts Building on campus. The demonstration will be Saturday, November 3, 2018 at 9:30 am. Immediately following the demonstration anyone wishing to participate in a hands on experience will be given the opportunity to design and make a kiln formed bowl. All bowls will be donated to ART SOUP 2018.

If you would like to go to Matthew’s demonstration and/or participate in bowl-making, contact Claire Hamlin at (251)776-3003 or [email protected]. We will need a headcount for the bowl-making so they can have enough supplies on hand.
Directions: The Art Department parking lot is the only large lot directly on University Blvd., across from William and Mary Dr. The Visual Arts building is straight in front of you after you enter the lot. The glass labs are behind the main building, down the wide sidewalk. If you want to carpool, let Claire know and carpools will leave SHPC from behind the Chapel at 9:15 am.
